A two day course introducing students to the pleasures of making paper
from plants that grow in our immediate environment.
We
will look at a range of plants to find out just which ones make good papers
and the variety of papers that are possible, papers ranging from pale,
fine drawing papers through to gutsy papers with lots of texture.
The
class is suitable for anyone interested in handmade papers.
Participants
will learn:
The selection of suitable plants,
Discuss the characteristics of plants that produce good paper
Processing the plants: cutting, cooking in caustic soda,
washing and beating or blending.
Making paper; equipment, pulling a sheet, couching a sheet,

The aim is that participants will learn enough of the basics to be able
